Here on Earth -- Alice Hoffman

Here on Earth by Alice Hoffman

I really like books that are narrated by different characters (as long as it is done well). I don't always like books about marital infidelity, but this one successfully walked the thin line on that issue ...

Passionate romance between teenagers rekindled after 20 years apart. Complications aplenty.

Little Earthquakes - Jennifer Weiner

Little Earthquakes by Jennifer Weiner

OK, I'll admit it. I am a little baby-crazy. I love 'em. I'm also a sucker for entertaining, intelligent chick-lit (is that an oxymoron?). Little Earthquakes is about a group of women who meet in a pre-natal yoga class and follows their lives and friendships for about a year. There's marital issues, mother-in-law issues, weight issues, baby issues etc. It's a good time. It heightened my fear of childbirth but also made me want kids even more than I already do -- if that's possible. Hee hee. I've not read any other Jennifer Weiner books so if anyone has a copy of Good in Bed or In Her Shoes that I can borrow, let me know!

Everything Is Illuminated - Jonathan Safran Foer

Everything Is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer

This came highly recommended by my friend, Luke -- he says it is his favorite book ever ...

And I can see why. Alternately hysterical and heavy, it is half narrated (in thesaurus-ized broken English) in letter format and half novel about a pre-WWII village. It starts out funny and quirky and ends up being thoughtful and ... well, a little depressing. Very creative.
